Yves Saint Laurent, YSL a popular fashion house of luxury clothing was started by Yves Saint Laurent and his co-worker Pierre Berge. After the death of Yves Saint Laurent in 2008, Stefano Pilati joined in as a chief designer. Yves Saint Laurent brand was established in the year 1962. After designing three collections, by Alber Elbaz in 1998-99, Gucci took over the YSL brand, for which he suggested Tom Ford to design the ready-to-wear range while YSL was engaged to design the haute couture range. He was the first person in the fashion industry to introduce blacks for modeling his collection in fashion shows.
